DA WINNER!

BY THE EDITORS

We had a contest of sorts here at our website and the idea of the contest was naming the most important bikes over a certain period of time. After looking at all the entries, we rather easily picked Dan Gawronski of San Rafael, California 94903.

Here were the questions:

What was the best dirt bike ever made?  Pre1970___________ Post 1970____________

What was the worst dirt bike ever made?____________________

What dirt bike changed the sport for good?___________________

After careful perusal of all the entrant's answers, and using our boundless knowledge of all things that roll in the dirt on two wheels, we, the judges, have chosen Dan as the winner of the contest.

He had had the best answers, was succinct and even though his choice of a four stroke as the bike that changed everything, was unfortunately, true.

Here were his picks:

Here's my best guess. Best pre 70, 1968 DT1, Best post 70, 1981 490 Maico, Bike that changed everything Yamaha YZ 400f, and the worst, 1971 TM 400. Thanks to all of you for a great website.

For the record, my bike is a '67 441 BSA engine in a '71 BSA B50 frame that I race in Northwest regional AHRMA events.

Just to let you know about myself, I am 51 years old and started reading Dirt Bike Magazine in 1973.

Congratulations,
